History Of Fuzzy Navel Cocktail

The Fuzzy Navel was created by Ray Foley in the 1980s and back then it contained equal parts peach schnapps and equal parts orange juice. Ray created this cocktail in New Jersey when someone at the bar gave accidentally gave Ray the idea by complimenting the smell of peach schnapps while ray was also cutting oranges to use as a garnish.

Fuzzy Navel Cocktail with vodka, ice and orange juice. Homemade screwdriver cocktail drink on wooden table.

Ever since the fuzzy navel was first created, mixologists and bartenders around the world have been adding their own spins onto the drink. The most common adjustments from the original recipe are by adding more or less peach schnapps to adjust the ABV of the drink.

Recipe Notes & F.A.Q’s

How can I increase the ABV without adding vodka?

You can add less orange juice, more peach schnapps, or both.

What peach schnapps do you reccomend?

My favourite peach scnapps is McGuinness Peach Schnapps but really any will work.

Some Other Ways This Drink Is Made

This variation of the fuzzy navel uses vodka. This is a very potent version of the Fuzzy Navel and makes it more of a screwdriver with some peach schnapps. When vodka is added to a fuzzy navel it is sometimes refferred to as a hairy navel.
